Improving Communications in a Communications Company

Unisys Corporation's Computer Systems Group in Orange County, California specializes in open systems development. They utilize advanced technology to enable computers at various locations with different operating systems and software to communicate easily and effectively with one another.

So, where does an expert in computer communication turn to help its employees do the very same thing? To The TRACOM Group. Using a group of resources developed around TRACOM's Social Style Model™, Unisys implemented a measurable program aimed at helping people in different departments with different goals to communicate effectively and to work as a team.

Using TRACOM's Social Style Profile™, Unisys employees received crucial information regarding how they, as well as others perceive their communication and interpersonal behaviors. The profile also measured each individual's ability to adapt their behavior in difficult situations as perceived by co-workers, supervisors and even customers. Participant took part in a series of exercises and lessons to increase their Versatility and interpersonal productivity.

Through a detailed follow-up evaluation, surveys indicated that 97 percent of the program's participants said they use skills developed on a regular basis. Additionally, 88 percent of respondents stated that they were more effective communicators because of the training. Based on this feedback and improved productivity, Unisys plans on training its entire employee population.
