New TRACOM White Papers Focus on Trends in Coaching and Impact of Conflict

White papers reveal results of recent surveys conducted by TRACOM on the effects of conflict and the trends of coaching in the workplace

Highlands Ranch, Colo. – Nov. 11, 2008 – The TRACOM Group announced the availability of two new white papers. One white paper outlines the current trends of coaching in the workplace, while the other focuses on the impact of conflict in the workplace.

The white papers, “Using Social Style Training for More Successful Coaching” and “The Role of Social Style Training in Managing Workplace Conflict,” reveal results of recent surveys conducted by TRACOM.

The coaching survey revealed that virtually all respondents, 99 percent, said the coaching they provide positively impacts their organization’s performance. The positive performance is attributed to the ability of coaching to diffuse conflicts that interfere with good communication and productivity. Other findings from this survey include:

  • A quarter of the respondents spent between 25 and 50 percent of the time coaching others
  • 57 percent said they felt they are doing the right amount of coaching
  • 87 percent said they had seen managers falter in their careers due to an inability to effectively coach their employees

In the conflict survey, respondents agreed that organizational, team and personal productivity suffer in the midst of conflict. The survey also revealed that a significant source of conflict arise from interpersonal behavior differences. However, understanding others’ interpersonal differences can help individuals have more satisfying interactions and help organizations increase productivity and retention. Key survey findings include:

  • 41 percent of respondents identified interpersonal differences as a source of conflict
  • 67 percent of respondents said team productivity had decreased as a result of conflict
  • 31 percent said someone they know has left a job due to conflict
