Unlocking Personal Agility™ Course Teaches How to Create Positive Change
In today’s highly competitive and fast-paced environment, organizations are looking to increase their agility to improve performance, better serve customers and innovate. In fact, 90 percent of executives say that agility is essential to business success. TRACOM, the Social Intelligence Company®, has introduced a new training program that develops these crucial agility skills.
Unlocking Personal Agility is a unique course built on the latest research in neuroscience and learning. It teaches participants about the naturally occurring cognitive biases that get in our way and lead to stagnation in the workplace. It’s loaded with practical and powerful techniques to develop, champion and implement new ways to boost individual and organizational performance.
The foundation of the course is TRACOM’s IDEA Model™ which identifies four key elements of personal agility. These elements are:
Investigate – looking for opportunities to improve current services, processes or products
Design – generating and evaluating as many ideas as possible to achieve improvements
Energize – influencing others, building coalitions and mobilizing support for new ideas
Apply – putting bold ideas into a practical plan, testing and modifying the plan, and making new ideas a regular part of the work process
Unlocking Personal Agility was built to provide a crucial toolset to help organizations that recognize that maintaining the status quo is simply not good enough.
“Savvy organizations are looking for ways to innovate and create change that will shape their markets rather than just respond to changes forced upon them by others,” said David Collins, TRACOM’s Vice President. “The agility skills taught in the program help people, teams and organizations proactively change for the better.”
Research-based Assessment Included
The course includes TRACOM’s Adaptive Mindset for Agility Multi-rater Profile™ to measure a person’s agility strengths and weaknesses and then improve these skills for enhanced effectiveness. The IDEA Model and Agility Profile were developed over two years through research and testing with more than 1,000 individuals to identify the most important attributes of personal agility and develop an assessment that was both reliable and valid.
“Any assessment needs to both accurately measure what it intends to measure and to do so consistently over time and across different populations,” said Dr. Casey Mulqueen, TRACOM’s Senior Director of Learning and Development. “The Agility Profile and course exceed the standards that the American Psychological Association has established in this area. More importantly, once these skills are understood, people can easily put them to use in their jobs.” For more information on the assessment and the research download the Adaptive Mindset for Agility Technical Report.
In addition to receiving their personal Agility Profile, participants explore the IDEA Model and work on actual workplace challenges they face while developing their Agility skills through interactive exercises. The hands-on nature of the class helps people internalize skills they can use at work. One technique participants learn is called the pre-mortem where they project themselves into the future after executing a new program, process or idea and anticipate in detail the many reasons why it failed.
Carla Williams, vice president of human resources with supply chain solutions company SpenDifference completed the Unlocking Personal Agility program and found these techniques especially helpful. “The pre-mortem exposes the shortcomings of a plan in a way I hadn’t experienced before,” said Williams. And it allows you to address those issues before they become significant problems.”
